The Chicago Blackhawks had to play most of Friday night's game shorthanded.
Not because of penalty but because of injury.
Frank Nazar left the game and did not return, and it happened on an odd play.
Nazar injury: latest
Taking on the Calgary Flames, Nazar got a little tangled up as he skated across the offensive zone.
Midway through the first period, Nazar went down to the ice.
From that point on, he didn't return to the game.
The Blackhawks ruled him out officially, as well.
Here's a look at the play:

Nazar, just 21, entered the night having scored five goals with six assists through 14 games.
An absence for Nazar would be bad news for the up-and-coming Blackhawks.
Fans will likely have to wait until postgame or the morning to hear more about the injury.
