It's not a deal with any headline-grabbing names.
But the Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks completed a trade on Thursday afternoon, and they'll both be hoping they got the better side of it.
These were the details reported by NHL insider Frank Seravalli:
- Blackhawks get
- D Ryen Ellis
- D Jake Furlong
- 4th-round pick
- Sharks get
- G Laurent Brossoit
- D Nolan Allan
- 7th-round pick
Excited yet?
Broissot is a 32-year goalie who was playing in the AHL.
Allan is a restricted free agent after the season.
It seems like an effort for the Blackhawks to extract at least a little value from players who likely aren't going to be long-term pieces for them.
The Ellis piece is really just an active contract. He hasn't played in the NHL since 2022.
Furlong is 21 years old and would be the guy the Blackhawks are hoping can do something. He was a fifth-round pick in 2022.
This deal may not amount to much in the end, though.
