The Chicago Blackhawks were facing a need-to-have-it faceoff.
Connor Bedard put his whole body into the play, down a goal with almost no time on the clock against the St. Louis Blues. But he ended the sequence injured.
As the Blackhawks failed to notch the tying goal, Bedard went down to the ice.
He was holding his right shoulder.
And as the other players milled about at the final buzzer, Bedard hustled off, clearly in pain.

It's a brutal moment to the Blackhawks, who have begun more and more to embrace the leadership of their young, rising superstar.
If Bedard has to miss time, it's just a setback for the whole team's ability to grow together into a formidable NHL unit.
Chicago fans will also hope Bedard doesn't come back any worse for wear from his absence.
The Blackhawks have already announced that Bedard won't play Saturday against Detroit due to what their head coach has termed a "freak accident."
Beyond that, it's fingers crossed for Bedard from all Chicagoans.
