The Washington Commanders may or may not get quarterback Jayden Daniels back in Week 14.
Daniels' status remains up in the air this week as he continues to recover from a dislocated elbow suffered in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks.
The good news is, Daniels showed a clear sign of progress last week, as he turned in three limited practices before being ruled out.
But does that mean Daniels is on track to play in Week 14? Here's what we know.
Will Jayden Daniels return in Week 14?
This appears to be a true toss-up.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Daniels "has a chance" to suit up in the game against the Minnesota Vikings.
"My understanding is at least he has a chance of playing," Rapoport said of Week 14. "No one has said firmly about whether he is going to be out there, but he does have a chance to get cleared four weeks from the injury."
On Monday, head coach Dan Quinn revealed that Daniels has not been cleared for contact yet and the team will take the decision about his status for Week 14 up to Friday.
“It’s a little different at the position because it’s not the normal contact like a linebacker or running back. It’s more of the functional contact,” Quinn said.
“Think of stiff arm on a bag, think of diving on the ground — so there’s more functional movements that he’ll go through. He did some of that today, and he’ll do more during the week. So, the practice portion, for him throwing, ripped a bunch today and threw it hard. It’s the functional movement that he’ll continue to work with. Some of that actually will be in individual and working to the side. We’ll continue to work that part, and that’s the step we need to see from a functional evaluation, functional contact. It’s not traditional in the sense of taking a hit.”
With the Commanders idle on Tuesday, the next update we'll get on Daniels will come on Wednesday, when Washington releases its first injury report.
If he's able to log a full practice, that will be a great sign Daniels will suit up. If he is just limited, it'll be status quo.
Jayden Daniels fantasy advice
The Vikings have been one of the stingiest defenses in the NFL when it comes to giving up fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, with Minnesota's unit surrendering the fifth-fewest.
Despite being in the midst of a down season, Daniels still ranks as QB10 overall in terms of fantasy points per game, so that keeps him on the starting radar this week should he suit up.
We would not, however, suggest Marcus Mariota as a viable starting option in such a tough matchup. He simply doesn't offer the talent and upside of Daniels, which keeps him off our starting radar in Week 14.
