Will Jayden Daniels return in Week 13 vs. Broncos? Final status for Commanders QB image

TL;DR

  • Jayden Daniels remains out for the Commanders' Week 13 game against the Denver Broncos due to a dislocated elbow.
  • Daniels has returned to practice and expressed a desire to play if medically cleared and healthy.
  • Wide receiver Terry McLaurin is expected to return for the Commanders' matchup against the Broncos.
  • Marcus Mariota will make his sixth start for the Washington Commanders in Daniels' absence.

Jayden Daniels has been absent for the last two contests for the Washington Commanders due to a dislocated elbow sustained in Week 9 versus the Seattle Seahawks, and he's expected to remain out for at least an additional week.

Daniels, who returned to the practice field this week, has been ruled out of Washington’s Week 13 matchup against the Denver Broncos, though there remains a chance that the star quarterback returns this season. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has been encouraged by Daniels’ progress.

Jayden Daniels is sidelined for The Week 13 matchup against the Broncos.

In Daniels' absence, Marcus Mariota will get his sixth start of the season.

Discussions have arisen regarding the Commanders' potential pursuit of re-signing Daniels for the remainder of this season, given their current 2-8 record and near elimination from playoff contention. However, should he be medically cleared and in good health, Daniels has expressed a desire to participate.

“It’s a day-by-day process. Just kind of getting back into a rhythm, and get in the flow of things,” Daniels said earlier this week. “Gotta go out there and play football. If I’m back out there, I’m healthy, and I’m ready to go, I want to be out there.”

Although Daniels is not expected to play versus Denver, another important player on Washington's offense will be back. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin is slated to rejoin the game. He reinjured a quadriceps issue he sustained earlier in the season during the Kansas City Chiefs on October 27th, and he's been out of commission since then. He stated he's feeling improved now.

"I feel like my acceleration is there, just kind of like that next gear that I have, and I'm just not really thinking about it at all," McLaurin said this week. "I definitely feel better this time around and the ramp-up process has been really good."

The matchup between the Commanders and Broncos is scheduled for Sunday Night Football. The game is slated to begin at 8:20 p.m. ET, originating from Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.
