The Washington Commanders concluded a disastrous 2025 season on a high note with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles, which means we now know their place in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Philadelphia rested quarterback Jalen Hurts on Sunday, but it was still a nice win from Josh Johnson and Washington. The Commanders finish the year with a 5-12 record, meaning they will be picking high in April's draft.
The Commanders will have the No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Cleveland Browns, who also ended at 5-12, are the No. 6 pick due to having a worse strength of schedule than Washington.
With Jayden Daniels still on a rookie contract and having a stellar rookie campaign in 2024, the Commanders won't be selecting a quarterback.
However, getting Daniels another weapon in the draft could be the selection at No. 7 for Washington. Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson and Ohio State's Carnell Tate would pair well with Terry McLaurin in the passing game.
The Commanders could also use the pick on defense, as the unit struggled mightily in 2025.
Edge rushers are a constant theme at the top of this year's draft board. Miami's Rueben Bain and Texas Tech's David Bailey are difference makers on the defensive line that Washington could have the chance to take.
We'll see what the Commanders end up doing with the seventh pick, but there's no denying that it's a critical offseason in Washington.
