Ex-Washington star QB hints at comeback out of retirement image

One of the most exciting quarterbacks to ever play football for Washington’s NFL franchise is thinking about making a comeback.

It wouldn’t necessarily be for the Commanders, but a return from retirement would certainly garner headlines.

The QB in question: Robert Griffin III.

RG3 recently posted on TikTok the caption: “It might be time to come out of retirement (eyes emoji).”

The words were accompanied by a video of Griffin taking part in a quarterback workout.

RG3 took the NFL world by storm after being the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft behind Andrew Luck.

As a rookie starter, he had a 9-6 record for Washington.

Injuries quickly derailed the magic of Griffin’s dual-threat ability, and the shooting star that existed in his rookie season proved to be heartbreakingly fleeting.

Griffin wound up appearing in games across three seasons for Washington, three seasons for Baltimore and one season for Cleveland.

He last played in an NFL game in 2020 for the Ravens.

Griffin is now 35 years old, younger than the other trending comeback chatter coming from Colin Kaepernick’s camp.

It’s not clear whether Griffin would still have any of his running ability, or how much rust he would have to shake off.

But with that brilliant RG3 rookie season in the back of mind, football fans would still find it exciting to have him coming back to the league.
