TL;DR

  • Jayden Daniels' dislocated elbow injury is not season-ending, allowing for a potential return this season.
  • A return by Week 14 is a realistic possibility, with December 7th against the Vikings as a potential target date.
  • Daniels is eager to play again this season, regardless of the Washington Commanders' playoff chances.
  • The Commanders are not currently planning to shut Daniels down for the remainder of the season.

The initial concern following Jayden Daniels' dislocated elbow was that it might conclude his season.

Subsequently, we learned that Daniels sustained an injury wasn't as serious as first thought, which created an opportunity for the Washington Commanders quarterback to make a comeback later this season.

It's uncertain when that return will occur, but ESPN's Jeremy Fowler indicates it's a "realistic possibility" that Daniels, who aims to play again this season even with The Commanders' faint playoff chances, will be back by Week 14.

Jayden Daniels is considered week-to-week and is probably sidelined for Monday night's Denver game, though Week 14 is a feasible target. Daniels is eager to return to play this season. Should he receive medical clearance next week, starting against the Vikings on December 7th is a potential option. While shutting Daniels down has been discussed recently, it doesn't appear to be the team's current strategy. As a young player who could benefit from more game time, and with the injury affecting his non-throwing elbow, his long-term prognosis shouldn't be impacted, provided he's cleared to play.

While the Commanders haven't officially ruled out Daniels for this week, he is considered a long shot to play.

"It's important that Jayden's getting going, learning to play this position at the highest level competitively," head coach Quinn said.

"Also doing it safely. Those are reps that you develop as well. It's a skill just like throwing and processing. All those things are important," Quinn added.

Rumors suggest the Commanders may sideline Daniels for the remainder of the season, given their near-elimination from playoff contention.

Daniels has clearly indicated his desire to return to play once he's healthy, irrespective of the situation.

“If I’m healthy and ready to go I want to be out there," Daniels said on Tuesday, per ESPN's John Keim.

Presently, considering Daniels' statement and Fowler's report, it appears the Commanders' star player will return to action this season, potentially as early as next week.
