Late in the 2024 season, the Washington Commanders finally waved the white flag on former first-round pick and bust, cornerback Emmanuel Forbes.
Forbes was cut loose by the Commanders in December last year, and he was then scooped up the Los Angeles Rams, where he remains to this day.
Forbes didn't have much of a chance to show his stuff with the Rams in 2024, though, as he played in just two games for Los Angeles.
However, Forbes is in the midst of reviving his career with the Rams in 2025.
Through 11 games (eight starts), Forbes has surrendered a completion rate of 63.2% and a passer rating of 84.9. According to Pro Football Focus, his 62.7 coverage grade ranks 51st out of 109 cornerbacks and is the best mark of his career.
In all, Forbes has three picks, all of which have come in the last four games, and 13 passes defensed, both of which are also career-highs for him.
Forbes shined in the Week 12 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with the veteran cornerback recording a career-high five passes defensed.
He also did something nobody has done since Week 12 of 2022, according to Next Gen Stats: Forbes was targeted seven times but did not allow a single reception.
"Emmanuel Forbes faced seven targets and did not allow a single reception against the Buccaneers. No defender since Week 12, 2022 has been targeted more times without allowing a catch. Forbes recorded a career-high 5 passes defensed in the win," Next Gen Stats wrote.
It is easy to say that the Commanders made a mistake and gave up on Forbes too quickly, and we wouldn't fight that considering how short his stint in Washington was.
But it can't be understated just how bad he looked with the Commanders and it was hard to envision him ever getting his career on track.
Nobody could've seen this type of turnaround, and we're still in the process of Forbes' revival, so there's no guarantee he'll be able to keep it up.
