The Washington Commanders will take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17 on Thursday and wide receiver Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel will both be playing.

However, both players will be operating with a downgrade at quarterback, as veteran journeyman Josh Johnson will get the nod.

Johnson is getting the start because Jayden Daniels has been shut down for the year after reaggravating his elbow injury, and Marcus Mariota was ruled out during the week due to hand and quadriceps injuries.

Johnson starting is obviously a major concern for McLaurin and Samuel. Here's how we'd handle the start or sit decisions for both players in Week 17.

Terry McLaurin start or sit advice

McLaurin remains the best starting option on the Commanders' roster, but he's a total roll of the dice in Week 17.

That's because of the injuries to Mariota and Daniels, which means McLaurin will be catching passes from Johnson, who struggled mightily in relief of Mariota last week after he exited due to injury.

The Cowboys present a juicy matchup, with Dallas surrendering the most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season.

But with Johnson being under center, we can't suggest McLaurin as a viable starting option in Week 17.

Verdict: Sit

Deebo Samuel start or sit advice

Samuel has taken a back seat to McLaurin since the latter's return from injury in Week 13, and in that span he ranks as WR55 overall in fantasy points per game, which leaves him off the starting radar on a weekly basis.

Apply the same fear we have with McLaurin catching passes from Johnson to Samuel, except it's even more troublesome because Samuel is the No. 2 wide receiver in the offense.

There is just no way Samuel can be in lineups this week with the fantasy football championship on the line.

Verdict: Sit
