The Washington Commanders were dealt a tough blow in Week 9 after quarterback Jayden Daniels sustained an elbow injury that leaves his status for the rest of the season in doubt.

Daniels suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter of the blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks, which only makes the injury more devastating because he shouldn't have been in the game, something head coach Dan Quinn admitted.

As we continue to wait for an official update on Daniels, who was diagnosed with a dislocated elbow, Quinn revealed on Wednesday that the team is meeting to discuss Daniels' status and what the next steps will be.

He expects to have an update "in the next day or so."

“We are going through a final medical meeting today regarding second opinions to put the plan together,” Quinn said of Daniels. “We should have an update for you here in the next day or so. Being thorough through the whole process... Gather all the info and then make the decisions from there.”

When the injury first happened, it looked ugly and it was immediately assumed that Daniels would miss the rest of the season, especially after he had an air cast placed on his elbow.

However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the issue is "not as bad as it could've been," which is a positive update for Daniels and the Commanders.

What could help Daniels recover quicker is the fact that the injury occurred to his non-throwing arm, but it's important to note that we still don't know the extent of the damage to the elbow, so he is anything but guaranteed to recover in time to return this season.

And even if he is capable of returning late in the year, it might not make any sense to actually bring him back because the Commanders are likely to be out of the playoff hunt by then. Their season is on life support already at 3-6.

Whatever the case may be, it appears we'll have more answers in the next day or two.
