This past season, the Washington Commanders made a run to the NFC title game in the first year with head coach Dan Quinn and quarterback Jayden Daniels.
The Commanders surprisingly defeated the No. 1 seed Detroit Lions in the playoffs, and the future is bright in Washington DC.
However, one concerning spot has been the contract status of star wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The former Ohio State star is in the final year of his deal, and he previously left OTAs after being around in some capacity.
Now, it seems he is frustrated with the way things have gone, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
"Sources: #Commanders All-Pro WR Terry McLaurin has made it clear to the team that he’s frustrated with the lack of progress on a long-term deal. As I previously reported, McLaurin unexpectedly left voluntary workouts after initially attending, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll report for mandatory minicamp. McLaurin is entering the final year of his contract. Talks have been minimal."
It could be a big problem for the Commanders. In 2024, McLaurin led the way with 82 catches for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns. He has also played in every game during the past four seasons and has five straight 1,000-yard-plus campaigns even with numerous quarterbacks and numerous coaches.
So, if the Commanders can't agree to a deal with McLaurin, it could be a tough loss for Daniels and the offense. But, the good news is they acquired Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers to add some talent to the WR room, but there is no denying McLaurin is an integral part of the offense.
