Talk about a lost season.

Nothing has gone right for the Washington Commanders, who entered the 2025 campaign with so much promise but will leave it with a whimper.

That sets up this offseason as a crucial one. How can the Commanders continue to get better?

One talented player they've been linked to is 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

"Washington is a spot a lot of people have pegged as a potential destination for Brandon Aiyuk, as it's believed he'd like to team up with former Arizona State teammate Jayden Daniels," ESPN's Dan Graziano wrote on Wednesday.

Aiyuk hasn't played at all this season in San Francisco amid injury and a bit of controversy, but he'd be a huge talent addition for Washington.

"The Aiyuk-Washington connection makes a ton of sense," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler added.

Washington did sign Terry McLaurin long term before the season started.

The Commanders could lose Deebo Samuel to free agency this offseason after just getting him from the 49ers in a trade last offseason. If he goes, Aiyuk would be an ironic and strong replacement.

Washington will also be looking at a new setup at tight end after the aging Zach Ertz sustained a serious knee injury this past weekend that put his future more in doubt.

Jayden Daniels can still lead the Commanders a long way, but they need to surround him with good weapons to maximize his potential. Aiyuk would certainly qualify.
