The Washington Commanders have made a new addition to their injury report ahead of the Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday.
The Commanders announced on Thursday morning that Rodriguez has been added to the injury report with an illness and is now questionable to play.
"RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. (Illness) has been added to the injury report and is questionable for today's game," the Commanders said.
Now, the Commanders' list of inactives is worth monitoring ahead of kickoff. That list will drop an hour and a half before the 1 p.m. ET start time of the contest with the Cowboys.
Is Chris Rodriguez playing today?
UPDATE: Rodriguez is officially INACTIVE for Week 17.
We don't have a definitive answer on Rodriguez just yet, but we would say he has a better chance to suit up than not simply based on the fact that players rarely sit out because of an illness.
The wrinkle here is that Rodriguez might have woken up sick on Thursday, so that adds a bit more uncertainty to his status than there otherwise would be if he was sick earlier in the week.
Chris Rodriguez start or sit advice
Despite taking on a larger role in the second half of the season, Rodriguez's production hasn't been great.
Over his last four games, Rodriguez is averaging just 9.7 fantasy points per contest, which ranks as RB36 overall and makes him a fringe flex option, at best.
Rodriguez does have a positive matchup this week, with the Cowboys ceding the seventh-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season.
But there are just so many concerns here.
We now have to worry about Rodriguez being limited due to his illness, and he's also operating in an offense that will have Josh Johnson under center because of injuries to Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota, which will make things more difficult for the Commanders running back.
When putting it all together, we simply can't suggest Rodriguez as a starter in fantasy football championships this week.
Verdict: Sit
