Fans usually see players in two ways: on the field or in interviews. Very rarely do fans see or view NFL players in different ways. And oftentimes, situations may not arise in which fans can see players in different ways. Well, on Monday night at the Northwest YMCA in Nashville, Tennessee, fans of the Tennessee Titans got to see their rookies outside of their helmets and pads.

Titans rookies like quarterback Cam Ward, wide receivers Elic Ayomanor and Chim Dike, and others were present and giving back. The event saw Titans rookies give away 100 Thanksgiving meals that included a turkey, sides, and a $50 Kroger gift card. The rookies were all smiles as they met people from the community that they are now a part of.

“It feels good, especially all those guys in the room with me. We all try to do our part in helping the community. We all try to do it together. “

Ward, along with other Titans rookies, not only helped the families put their meals together but also carried their food out to their cars in some instances, which was really thoughtful and caring.

Along with helping people, they also created lasting memories for not only the kids who were there but also some adults, like one that specifically stuck out to Ward.

“Lisa, when she asked for everybody’s name. Just because she sees all of us with helmets on, she doesn’t get a chance to see us face-to-face. So that was a pretty awesome experience for all of us to get a chance to meet her and her family.”

Seeing the players enjoy their time with the community and give back to it while giving of their time was refreshing. Hopefully, when people see and hear about these types of events, they understand that there is more to these athletes than just a football field.
