The Tennessee Titans put Jeffery Simmons in for a pass play down at the 1-yard line.

Simmons is the all-world, 305-pound defensive tackle. He's not a pass catcher.

But he was out there, and the Titans gave Simmons a route into the right flat, potentially hoping that no one on the defense would worry about covering the big guy wearing No. 98.

That wasn't open, though, and that created the best part of the play.

As Titans rookie QB Cam Ward rolled right, and the whole defense went with him, Simmons showed off some wide receiver instincts.

He relocated against the grain, back to the middle of the end zone. There, he was wide open, and that's where Ward found him for a touchdown.

There were a bunch of Titans fans on social media on Sunday pointing out that Simmons may have better wide receiver instincts than the Titans' actual WRs.

Whether that's true or not, it was pretty awesome to see Simmons do this. He clearly has a strong football IQ, and he put it to use Sunday in a way that not many would've expected from the defensive tackle. A cool moment, for sure, in a season where the Titans haven't had too many of them.
