TL;DR

  • Chris Godwin and Bucky Irving are improving but their game readiness for Sunday is uncertain.
  • Offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard is not yet planning game plays for Godwin and Irving.
  • Sean Tucker has stepped up significantly during Bucky Irving's absence and warrants more carries.
  • Tucker is likely to spearhead the run game against the Rams if Irving remains sidelined.

All eyes have been on Tampa Bay Buccaneers injured pair Chris Godwin and Bucky Irving as they ramp up their potential returns.

Following their return to practice last week, and with head coach Todd Bowles indicating their increased participation this week, the outlook for the pair seems to be improving.

But is there enough evidence that the duo will take their place on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams

Offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard isn't there yet.

"Yeah, they're both getting better,” Grizzard said. “See them out there and really compared to last week and see the strides they made even over a week. I'd say it's still a little early in terms of knowing going into the week, where you're definitely going to get that guy to be able to have game plan plays for them.

However, I sense it's approaching, and observing these individuals compete. Thus, it's wonderful to witness them and the vitality they contribute, and the enthusiasm they possess is truly beneficial.

Sean Tucker is playing a key role during Irving's absence.

As Bucky has been absent for the last few games, Sean Tucker has recently stepped up his performance, particularly against the Buffalo Bills, leading Grizzard to suggest he warrants increased carries.

Tucker's performance, featuring 106 rushing yards and two scores on the ground, plus 34 receiving yards and a touchdown through the air, has intensified the pressure on the coaching staff to increase his workload.

It's probable that this will happen in Week 12 when they face the Rams, particularly if Irving is unable to play, which currently seems probable. However, with Tucker, the Buccaneers will undoubtedly be satisfied with him spearheading the run game and Rachaad White serving as the backup.

While Irving and Godwin haven't reached their full potential for Grizzard, Tucker represents a young, eager running back poised to spearhead the L.A. Offense.
