The Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven't had the services of wide receiver Chris Godwin for quite some time.

Godwin sustained a fibula injury all the way back in Week 5 and hasn't played in a game since. Godwin did return to practice in recent weeks, but he was not able to get cleared to play.

Godwin showed a clear sign of progress this week after he turned in a full practice on Thursday, but he then returned to a limited session on Friday before getting the questionable tag.

Here's what we know about Godwin's chances of playing in Week 12 against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night, along with some fantasy football start or sit advice for the Bucs wideout.

Is Chris Godwin playing tonight?

Yes, Godwin is expected to play in Week 12, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

"Bucs WR Chris Godwin, who has been out since Oct. 5 with a hairline fracture in his fibula, is expected to return to the field on Sunday night, source said. He is listed as questionable," Rapoport reported.

Chris Godwin start or sit advice for Week 12

In the two games Godwin played this season (Weeks 4 and 5), he ranked as WR67 overall, which would normally leave him well off the starting radar.

Another problem is the Rams are fairly stingy against wide receivers, with Los Angeles giving up the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to the position.

If you're looking for a reason to start Godwin, the Bucs are without Mike Evans (clavicle) once again, and we've seen Godwin get heavy targets (10 in Week 4) during one of the games he played this season.

Adding to that, the Rams-Bucs matchup could be a shootout, which will create more opportunities for Godwin.

With injuries and bye weeks prevalent throughout the NFL, you can make a case to start Godwin in Week 12, but doing so would be a leap of faith based on what we have seen out of the veteran this season.

We'd err on the side of caution and sit Godwin this week, barring a desperate situation.

Verdict: Sit
