Bucky Irving, Chris Godwin injury updates on Thursday paint clear picture for Week 10 image

Another day of practice for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, another sign that both wide receiver Chris Godwin and running back Bucky Irving will not make their respective returns in Week 10 against the New England Patriots.

As we turned the page to Week 10, the hope was that Irving and/or Godwin would return after their lengthy absences due to injury. Unfortunately, it is simply not trending in that direction for either player.

According to Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times, neither Godwin nor Irving are practicing once again on Thursday, which makes them non-participants in both of Tampa Bay's practices so far this week.

"No Bucky Irving, Chris Godwin or Haason Reddick at practice today," Stroud said on Thursday. "Luke Goedeke continues to practice and it’s going to be a call later this week but suspect he will play. Bucs have a 21 day window to activate him."

This obviously keeps both Buccaneers offensive stars on track to sit out yet another game, which is, of course, bad news for Tampa Bay's offense.

Irving is battling toe and shoulder injuries, although reports suggest the latter issue is the bigger one. Irving has already missed four games, which begs the question: why wasn't he placed on injured reserve?

The likely answer is either Irving's injury turned out to be worse than initially expected, or he suffered a setback. Neither has been confirmed, though.

As for Godwin, who is dealing with a fibula injury, the same IR logic applies as he prepares to miss his fourth game in a row.

With both likely to be sidelined, the Bucs will lean on Rachaad White and Sean Tucker once again out the backfield and will need big contributions from Emeka Egbuka, Cade Otton, Tez Johnson and others in the passing game.

Tucker appears to be threatening to take White's role after the former saw an uptick in carries in Week 8 and outperformed White overall.
