The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense was powerless to stop Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and the offense in Week 11, allowing 44 points in the loss.
What was eye-opening about that is that those 44 points are the most a Buccaneers defense has given up since Bowles took over in 2019.
The defense also gave up over 400 yards of total offense and allowed 7.9 yards per play in what was a horror show defensively.
And Bowles didn't hold back in his assessment of his group's effort in Buffalo.
"I'm embarrassed every time we lose, but from a defensive standpoint, we didn't play well, we had a stinker," Bowles said. "It happens. This league humbles you. Every now and then, you're going to have something that messes up. As coaches, we can definitely do a better job. As players, we can do a better job. We didn't play well, we didn't coach well. That's really all it sums up to.”

Buccaneers' defense must shape up for Week 12
There is no get-well game for the defense because Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams are up next for Tampa Bay.
With Puka Nacua and Davante Adams as the top weapons, Bowles' defense is going to have a hard time containing the pair, and then we add in running back Kyren Williams, and it is a three-headed monster the Buccaneers have to deal with.
Surely there will be a bounce-back performance from the defense after last week's showing, and if the Buccaneers want to get back on the winner's list, a complete defensive performance is needed.
Having lost three out of their last four games, the Buccaneers need to get their mojo back, and not conceding 44 points is a good place to start.
