Football is the ultimate team game, and that means not everyone receives the huge stats and adulation. For Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton, he exemplifies this perfectly.
Having barely been sighted through the opening four weeks of the season, hauling in just six receptions for 31 yards as he was largely used as a blocking tight end, against the Seattle Seahawks in a 38-35 win, Otton made himself known in the passing game.
Cade would total four receptions for 81 yards in the win to be one of Baker Mayfield's dominant weapons. From being hardly sighted to what he produced on Sunday, yeah, Baker knows that takes a special type of someone.
“Yeah, Cade just trustworthy guy, completely selfless,” Mayfield said. “Really cares about winning, he's always been like that. He'll do a lot of the dirty work, doesn't get a lot of credit for it. But our key games, he's been a huge difference maker. Whatever role or capacity he has, and he's willing to do it.”

Buccaneers' selfless attitude propelling team forward in 2025
As Mayfield stated, Otton's selfless attitude clearly is the mindset of the entire locker room, and we don't have to look too far to see it in action.
Whether it is Rachaad White behind Bucky Irving or Emeka Egbuka shining and Chris Godwin taking a back seat, the only thing that matters to this team is winning. They don't care about stats as long as the goal remains the same.
Otton could have easily spoken up about his lack of targets, but didn't because he values team success more than his own, and that is a rather powerful thing to have going through a locker room.
Yeah, Tampa Bay is a talented football team, but when you combine it with the attitude of a player like Otton, yeah, good things are bound to happen.
