The Seattle Seahawks are locked in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC West between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams.
Seattle will likely be aggressive come the trade deadline, looking to add to their roster amid a hot 4-2 start. However, they could also look to sell off players who don't factor into the team's long-term outlook.
One 2022 draft pick, who is in the final year of his deal and has fallen out of favor with the Seahawks coaching staff, could be a potential asset.
Seahawks trade idea ships Tariq Woolen to the Lions
In Kristopher Knox's NFL Trade Block Big Board Entering Week 7, he has Seahawks cornerback Tariq Woolen listed as one of the top trade pieces ahead of the deadline.
"The 2022 fifth-round pick has been rumored to be a trade candidate since September," wrote Knox.
"Woolen is an impending free agent and missed Week 6 with a concussion. However, he's also a starter who should interest just about any team with a need for help in the secondary."
On top of Knox's analysis, Ian Rapaport of NFL Network reported last month on Woolen's decreased playing time.
"Woolen’s playing time has diminished, and in a contract year, teams believe he could be available."
The former Pro Bowl cornerback could fetch a 2026 third-round pick, according to Knox's big board. As for potential suitors, the Detroit Lions were tabbed as a team desperate for secondary reinforcements.
With starting cornerbacks D.J. Reed and Terrion Arnold expected to each miss extended periods of time with injury, the Lions are in dire need of healthy defensive backs.
Woolen could not only be a remedy to their current situation, but also become a staple of Detroit's secondary for years to come.
