The Seattle Seahawks will be looking to get healthier after coming off a bye in Week 8.

Seattle will look to battle it out with another injury-riddled franchise, the Washington Commanders, on Sunday Night Football while trying to stay at the top of a highly competitive NFC West.

The newest addition to the Seahawks roster will come in special teams, while the team prepares to be without its usual return specialist. WR/KR Dareke Young was injured in Seattle's game against the Houston Texans in Week 7.

Seahawks sign return specialist Velus Jones Jr.

In preparation for Week 9, the Seahawks went out and signed former New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears RB/KR Velus Jones Jr, NFL insider Ari Meirov reported.

Jones Jr., 28, began the season with the Saints but was let go. He will now look to find a spot in a new, more successful organization in 2025.

In five games with New Orleans this season, Jones Jr. Returned eight kickoffs for a combined 183 return yards. He's shown success in returning kicks throughout his career, and the Seahawks will look to rely on the former third-round pick out of Tennessee moving forward.

Seattle currently holds the lead in the NFC West, ahead of the Los Angeles Rams. Despite the two teams having the same record, the Seahawks have the tie-breaking advantage over the Rams.

The Seahawks face a tough task in Week 9 as they travel to Washington, D.C., to take on a Commanders team that could have QB Jayden Daniels (hamstring) back from injury.
