The Seattle Seahawks took a trip out East to face the Atlanta Falcons for a Week 14 matchup that's huge for both teams' playoff chances.

Facing a defense that has struggled at times this season, the Seahawks' offense has a chance to have an explosive day. Kenneth Walker, Cooper Kupp, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba were the players to watch coming into the matchup, but a different player made the big play.

To open the second half, on a kickoff from the Falcons, trade deadline pickup Rashid Shaheed got a chance for a return, and he made the most of it and set an NFL record in the process.

Shaheed returned the second-half kickoff for a 100-yard return, which is the new NFL record for longest play of the 2025 season.

He caught it at the edge of the endzone, and after running outside for a moment, he cut back inside and knifed through the coverage team of the Falcons, speeding past everyone, and scoring the go-ahead kickoff return touchdown.

The previous record was a tie between New York Jets' Kene Nwangwu on a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown and Jacksonville Jaguars' Devin Lloyd on a 99-yard interception return touchdown.

This moment for Shaheed came at a great time. With the offense struggling to get things going for the entire first half, the Seahawks got their explosive play from the special teams unit.

Since coming to Seattle, Shaheed hasn't done much on offense, hauling in just four receptions for 37 yards across his first four games.

But the speedster made a massive impact in his fifth game, returning this kickoff 100 yards to give the Seahawks the lead, and set a 2025 NFL record for the longest play of the season so far.
