The Seattle Seahawks won an overtime thriller in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams. Not only are the Seahawks now in the driver's seat for the NFC West, but they have a clear path to the 1 seed and a first-round bye.
They're only in this position thanks to an aggressive decision from Mike Macdonald to go for two after their overtime touchdown. If they missed the two-point try, they would've lost. But Eric Saubert caught the two-point try and won the game for Seattle.
As insider Adam Schefter and analyst Ben Solak shared per ESPN Research, this game-winning two-point try made two pieces of NFL history for the Seahawks.
Seahawks' game-winning 2-point try makes two pieces of NFL history
Schefter shared that, per ESPN Research, "The Seahawks became the first NFL team to ever win an overtime game on a 2-point conversion."
This is a simple piece of NFL history, but it's all the more impressive. While the 2-point try hasn't always been around in the NFL, and for most of overtime's existence, a touchdown would end the game, it's still a worthwhile record.
Saubert's game-winning 2-point conversion is the first such play in NFL history, but with the new ruleset, this likely won't be the final time that a team will win a game on a two-point try at the end of a game.
Solak pointed out an overall facet of the game for the Seahawks, which proves just how improbable this comeback win was for Seattle.

"According to ESPN Research," Solak writes. "The Seahawks are only the fifth team in NFL history to convert three 2-point conversions in the fourth quarter + overtime, and they are the first team to win the game while doing so."
Making so many 2-point tries - three in this OT thriller - is a rare feat on its own. But, for all of those attempts to come in the fourth-quarter, and led to a win, is nothing short of improbable.
As if it wasn't enough, the wild Sam Darnold lateral, which turned into a Zach Charbonnet fumble recovery in the endzone, was about as wild a play as the NFL could have on a 2-point try.
This was a history-making NFL game in many ways, and the 2-point tries for the Seahawks made this stunning 38-37 game one for the ages.
