The Seattle Seahawks won in Week 18 to secure a first-round bye and also the NFC West in a 13-3 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

It wasn't the cleanest game for the Seahawks, but at this point in the season, a wins a win. They're now advancing to the Divisional round, becoming the top team in the NFL.

Amid this win over the 49ers, the Seahawks' defense tied NFL history with Kyle Shanahan-led offenses. Touted as one of the game's best playcallers, this history-making game from Seattle shows just how great this defense is.

Seahawks make history amid Kyle Shanahan's worst scoring game of career

As ESPN's Field Yates noted after the game, the Seahawks holding Shanahan and the 49ers offense to just three points tied for some impressive history.

"The 3 points is the fewest points the 49ers have scored in any game coached by Kyle Shanahan," Yates writes. "Just an unbelievably dominant performance by the Seahawks' defense."

Seattle stopped the 49ers' running game with Christian McCaffrey, got after Brock Purdy all game long, and held the entire receiver corps in check from start to finish.

Purdy went 19/27 for just 127 yards with one interception, and three sacks taken with plenty of quarterback pressures and hits all game long.

McCaffrey had just 2.9 yards per carry on the ground on his eight attempts for 23 yards, and if it weren't for a few Purdy scrambles for 21 yards, the Seahawks defense would've held the 49ers offense completely in check.

What makes this performance so impressive for the Seahawks, besides the record-tying history for a defense against a Shanahan offense, was the recent production from the 49ers.

San Francisco had recently been lighting defenses up. Since Week 11, the 49ers had scored 41, 20, 26, 37, 48, and 42 points in resounding victories.

But then the Seahawks came to town. They stifled the offense of the 49ers, holding them to just three points, by far the worst game they've had all season long, and tied for the worst offensive performance from Shanahan in his 49ers coaching tenure.
