The Seattle Seahawks got a major scare on Thursday, as starting quarterback Sam Darnold, coming off a bye week, popped up on the injury report with an oblique issue.
This is a serious injury that has Darnold questionable for the Saturday night match against the San Francisco 49ers. With realistic concerns, he couldn't go; his Thursday press conference was a big deal.
Fortunately, as Brian Nemhauser of hawkblogger.com shared, Darnold revealed that he expects to play and doesn't anticipate missing any time despite this late-week injury scare.
Sam Darnold shares good news despite injury
"Just kind of felt a little something in my oblique, just didn't want to push it," Darnold said. "Wasn't the day to push it. So, you know, that was it. Came inside, got some rehab, and feel like I'll be ready to go for Saturday."

This update from Darnold is a sigh of relief for Seahawks fans. While there are still realistic concerns that he could be hampered by this injury or that he could even miss this game, Darnold is expecting to play.
Darnold has played incredibly this season, and while his turnovers might be an issue, he's helped Jaxon Smith-Njigba have a breakout season and helped propel the Seahawks to the number 1 seed in the NFC.

This home matchup against the 49ers won't be easy, and if Darnold is out, Drew Lock would get the start for Seattle.
While there are worse backups in the league, relying on Lock would be a nightmare scenario for the Seahawks.
Fortunately, it looks like Darnold will be good to go, quelling any of those worries that came about when Darnold was listed as questionable with an oblique issue he sustained at practice on Thursday.
