The Seattle Seahawks are 7-3, one game behind the NFC West division-leading Los Angeles Rams. One of the main reasons why the team has played of great is the dominant defense.

Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba have been great, but the running game has been disappointing. The Seahawks have split the backfield between Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet.

With this struggling run game, Brady Henderson of ESPN reports that the future of Walker in Seattle is far from a guarantee. This is the last season on his rookie deal for Walker, and it might be his last in a Seahawks uniform as well.

Kenneth Walker III might be in final season with Seahawks

"He (Coby Bryant) is in a different situation than Seattle's other 2022 draftees who are starting and in the final year of their rookie contracts, including Riq Woolen, running back Kenneth Walker III, and outside linebacker Boye Mafe." Henderson writes. "None of those three seems to be in the Seahawks' long-term plans."

This report from Hendrson indicates that the 2025 season will be Walker's last in Seattle. With Charbonnet around for a little while longer and Walker's lackluster 2025 season, there's no strong reason to bring him back, especially if he's seeking a big new contract.

Walker in 2025 has 136 carries for 606 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, and 127 receiving yards on 14 receptions. His 4.5 yards per carry isn't great, but it's better than his 3.7 yards per carry in 2024.

However, the 25-year-old running back doesn't have much of a future in Seattle, especially with the need to extend more important players on both sides of the ball.

Walker is much easier to part ways with this offseason, as running backs are not only easier to find, but can be a lot cheaper than a player on a second contract.

The 2025 season is looking like Walker's last in Seattle, as the fan-favorite running back is not projected to return to the Seahawks once he hits free agency.
