The Seattle Seahawks pulled off one of the most stunning comebacks in recent NFL history on Thursday night, defeating the Los Angeles Rams in overtime by a score of 38-37 after being down 16 points midway through the fourth quarter.

Seattle scored 16 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to force the game into overtime. After the Rams scored a touchdown on the opening series of the overtime period, Sam Darnold and the Seahawks' offense put together a masterful game-winning drive, capped off by a Jaxon Smith-Nijigba touchdown and an Eric Saubert two-point conversion from Darnold to seal the deal.

Speaking of Smith-Nijigba, the superstar wide receiver turned in another productive outing versus the Rams, tallying eight receptions for 96 yards and the aforementioned touchdown.

Along with being a part of one of the greatest comebacks in Seahawks history, Smith-Nijigba etched himself in the franchise history books on Thursday.

After an eight-catch performance, Smith-Nijigba broke the franchise record for most catches in a single season. The Ohio State product is now up to 104 receptions on the year, surpassing the previous record of 100, set by himself in 2024 and Tyler Lockett in 2020.

Smith-Nijigba has had an Offensive Player of the Year-caliber season in 2025 and has established himself as one of the best players in the sport. The 23-year-old is top five in receptions, yards, and touchdowns among pass-catchers this year and leads the league in receiving yards with 1,627, which is also a Seahawks record.

With two games remaining in the season, Smith-Nijigba has the opportunity to solidify his case as the Offensive Player of the Year and a lock for a first-team All-Pro nod as well. The 2023 first-round pick has developed into a generational player for Mike Macdonald's No.1 seed Seattle squad.
