There aren't many Seattle Seahawks players who have had a bigger impact on the franchise than Russell Wilson.

Wilson spent ten years in Seattle and led the franchise to two Super Bowl appearances, a championship in 2013, and nine winning seasons. The ten-time Pro Bowler also established himself as one of the best quarterbacks of the 2010s.

Now 36, Wilson is nearing the end of his career. Since leaving Seattle in 2022 by trade to the Denver Broncos, the veteran has played for three teams. He spent two years in Denver, was with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, and signed with the New York Giants this offseason.

Though he can still be a solid starting signal-caller, CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan predicts Wilson will retire after the 2025 season.

"Wilson, who will turn 37 during the 2025 season, will likely be looking for a new team yet again next offseason as [Jaxson] Dart ascends to QB1 sooner rather than later. So, a retirement decision could be made for Wilson as a starting job may not be available to him, and it's hard to see him accepting a full-time backup role anywhere," Sullivan wrote.

Wilson has earned a ton of money in his career and doesn't have anything else to prove. The Wisconsin product already has a Super Bowl title and has proven throughout this 13-year career that he is a winning player at the highest level.

At some point, retirement will be an option for Wilson, and it could start in 2026. The 2012 third-round pick signed just a one-year deal with New York, and with the selection of Jaxson Dart in Round 1 of April's draft, it's clear the Giants view Wilson as nothing more than just a stopgap quarterback.

Though he could find another starting job elsewhere in 2026, retiring after this season is a logical option for Wilson, who has had a tumultuous last few years since departing the Seahawks.
