The Seattle Seahawks had six players named to the Pro Bowl, tying the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, and Baltimore Ravens.

One of those players selected was lockdown corner Devon Witherspoon, who earned his third Pro Bowl appearance in his third season and actually made franchise history with the selection.

Witherspoon became the first Seahawk to make the Pro Bowl in his first three seasons since legendary quarterback Russell Wilson, and the defensive back and the sixth corner in the Super Bowl era to do so, along with the likes of Patrick Peterson, Charles Woodson, Ronnie Lott, and others.

Although statistically it may not be the best season for Witherspoon, he has been a massive help to the Seahawks, who have one of the best defenses in the league, as the team is in his control and holds the first overall seed in the NFC conference.

The secondary and the rest of the team hope to clinch the NFC West and take that momentum into the playoffs, as they have to defeat the Carolina Panthers and the 49ers in their final two games on the road, in which the team would be rewarded with home-field advantage at Lumun Field on their path to the Super Bowl. Most fans and experts know how tough it is to win on the road in Seattle with its signature "12th man" crowd.

Witherspoon can take that leap from just being a certified Pro Bowler to potentially becoming a champion if he continues to play at his current level, with the possibility of raising his level of play when they enter the playoffs.
