In his second year in the NFL, Seattle Seahawks tight end AJ Barner took a significant step forward.
Entering Week 18, Barner has 50 catches for 505 receiving yards and six touchdowns through the air, all of which are career-highs for him. He also ranks third on the team in receiving yards behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp.
However, Barner hasn't been part of the game plan early on in the Week 18 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Here's a closer look at what's going on.
Is AJ Barner playing tonight?
Yes, Barner is active and healthy, he just hasn't gotten going yet.
On Seattle's first drive, quarterback Sam Darnold did connect with a tight end, but it was Eric Saubert.
Barner has been shut out in two games this season, but that hasn't happened in several weeks. It shouldn't be long before he gets on the stat sheet.
