The San Francisco 49ers will once again be without both quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall in Week 7, as both players have been ruled out.
Purdy has been battling a turf toe injury that has had him in and out of the lineup this season, while Pearsall is set to miss his third straight game because of a knee issue.
The good news is, the Niners have gotten strong quarterback play out of Mac Jones, and the team is welcoming back George Kittle from injured reserve this week.
But can we expect either Purdy or Pearsall to return in Week 8?
Here's what we know.
Will Brock Purdy be back in Week 8?
According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Purdy is indeed expected to be back next week.
After not practicing in recent weeks, Purdy logged three limited sessions this week before being ruled out. That is a good sign he's moving in the direction toward making his return in Week 8.
Will Ricky Pearsall be back next week?
Russini also reports that Pearsall is expected to be back in the lineup for the Week 8 contest against the Houston Texans.
"San Francisco expects Purdy and receiver Ricky Pearsall to be ready in Week 8," she wrote.
Unlike Purdy, Pearsall did not show progress this week after not logging a single practice in the lead up to the Atlanta Falcons game, so his status appears to be shakier than Purdy's.
That said, Russini's report gives us hope.
