Brock Purdy ended Monday night on the sideline.

The San Francisco 49ers' starting quarterback had already done more than enough, and Mac Jones was on the field.

Purdy threw five touchdowns on Monday Night Football against the Indianapolis Colts to improve to 11-4 on the season.

Jones got the finishing touches.

Why is Mac Jones in at QB for 49ers?

Mac Jones was in the game to let Purdy rest for the final few snaps. No need to have him in the game for kneel-downs with a 21-point lead.

Jones was great early in the season as Purdy's backup stepping in during injury.

This was a chance to let Jones at least take a few snaps, even if they were just kneel-downs for negative rushing yards.

Purdy will be back on the field to start in Week 17. Jones will remain his backup.

It's a good duo to have for the 49ers, for sure.
