The San Francisco 49ers get to take a breather on Sunday to rest and recover.

It's a bye week in Week 14 for the 'Niners, the latest it can come on the NFL calendar this season.

The 49ers enter the bye at 9-4, a great mark, especially considering a lot of the season was played without starting QB Brock Purdy.

Purdy is back, and the 49ers will get to set up for a strong stretch run.

There's still plenty to keep an eye on during Sunday's action.

What 49ers need to happen in Week 14

There's a lot for the 49ers to keep an eye on, but of course, the two major teams are the ones above them in the NFC West standings.

The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks are both 9-3, a half game up on San Francisco.

The Rams play in Arizona on Sunday against the Cardinals. Fans of the 49ers should be rooting for Jacoby Brissett to pull an upset.

The Seahawks are in Atlanta against the Falcons. So 49ers fans are now Kirk Cousins fans.

The best chance the 49ers have of a wild card spot if they can't win the division is for the Chicago Bears to run away with the NFC North and knock their competitors down a rung. That would mean rooting for the Bears to beat the Packers on Sunday.

The NFC South and NFC East don't have enough good records to come into play here.
