On Friday, the 2015 NFL MVP, Cam Newton, made a controversial statement about the potential 2025 NFL MVP, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, calling him a game manager instead of a game changer.
The comments took place on his '4th&1 with Cam Newton" weekly talk show, in which the opinion of Maye was clipped and posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, to get the people talking, with the caption of the post reading "you may not like who's saying it... But it's the truth.
Undoubtedly, it prompted many to criticise Newton's comments, including former Patriot and two-time Super Bowl champion Asante Samuel, who took the opportunity to give his flowers to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy while offering his opinion on whether he believed the long-term Carolina Panther was a game-changer.

"If Cam is considered a game changer, Brock Purdy is definitely a game changer," Samuel tweeted early Saturday.
In Samuel's case, Purdy has shown since returning from a turf toe injury that he is capable of changing the game in the 49ers' favor, as the team has back-to-back primetime wins with five total touchdowns in both of those games, and the team is on a six-game winning streak heading into Week 18.
Purdy will have another opportunity to prove Samuels' praise to be true, Saturday night when the Niners face the Seattle Seahawks at Levi Stadium in a high-stakes game for the NFC West and the top seed in the playoffs, meaning San Francisco could have the chance to host every game in the postseason, inlcuding Super Bowl 60 which will also be held in Levi Stadium.
No matter what anyone's standard is for becoming a game changer, if Purdy can lead his team to another primetime win, it will be hard to ignore that he is indeed a game changer.
