Unfortunately for the Las Vegas Raiders, the quarterback situation obviously hasn't worked out with veteran Geno Smith.

That might be due to former San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly, the offensive coordinator out in Vegas.

The hope and expectation was for Smith to be the franchise quarterback for this team eventually, but that simply hasn't been the case early on in his Raiders tenure.

It'll be interesting to see what Pete Carroll and the Raiders want to do moving forward, but there's also a decent draft class approaching now that could have some good players for the Raiders to pursue.

Beyond that, there are other future quarterbacks that could be instant impacts in Las Vegas, and it sounds like Tom Brady, who is now a minority owner of the Raiders, loves one of them.

When speaking on FOX, Brady stated that he believed CJ Carr looks like one of the best quarterbacks he's seen at the college level since Joe Burrow. Carr and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have enjoyed some success this year, as the redshirt freshman has proven to be a valuable player.

“CJ Carr looks like the best quarterback I have seen at the college level since Joe [Burrow] was at LSU,” Brady said on FOX. “He knows the game, and he can make every throw necessary.”

Would Chip Kelly stick around?

In some sense, it's unfortunate that if the Raiders want Carr, they'll have to wait another year to draft him, considering he isn’t draft-eligible until 2027. It’s also fair to question whether Kelly should be given a chance to work with a young Carr.

However, this could also be a sign that Brady has found the quarterback he's looking to man this offense moving forward.

Whenever a legend of Brady’s status is giving out high praise like that, it's usually a good sign.

For now, however, the Raiders aren't in a great position with the quarterback situation, and it'll be something Kelly has to figure out.
