The San Francisco 49ers have been hit hard by injuries in 2025, making their 9-4 record all the more impressive.

Defense has been hit the hardest, with two former All-Pros on injured reserve in linebacker Fred Warner and edge Nick Bosa.

But according to John Lynch, one of those key defenders is pushing hard through his rehab to make a return for the postseason.

John Lynch teases a potential Fred Warner return

On 49ers Talk with Matt Maiocco, the Niners' general manager hinted that linebacker Fred Warner making a return from his supposed season-ending ankle injury.

"Well, medically, no. I mean, the docs say it's probably on the wrong side of the range that they would suggest. But even the docs with Fred say, 'You know what, let him rehab as if he's coming back for something and we'll see where he's at'. I think it's outside the realm, and I promise you, it's our duty, with a player like Fred, not to ever put himself in harm's way in terms of not being ready and so we'll follow the orders of the doctors," Lynch said to Maiocco.

"They'll control this, but Fred is going to push the limits, and he is doing everything possible. He lives in a hyperbaric chamber for two, three hours a day. He's here all the time. He's unbelievable, this guy. It's what made him who he is."

While not likely, a return for Warner is clearly not off the table.

The four-time All-Pro would be defying the odds returning from such a serious injury so fast, but for now, 49ers fans can hold out hope for a shocking return in time for the playoffs.
