The Dallas Cowboys cut ties with one of their longest tenured players ahead of the final regular-season game of the 2025 campaign.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys waived cornerback TreVon Diggs on Tuesday.

"The Cowboys have released cornerback Trevon Diggs. He goes through the waiver process and if unclaimed, he will be a free agent," Archer reported on X.

Diggs has played in just eight games this season due to a concussion, and when on the field, he's been uninspiring. However, a change of scenery to end the season could be what the former All-Pro needs to get back to form.

Jane Slater of NFL Network says that Diggs wants to join a contender and continue playing this year. Though the veteran has had a tough year, he could still be a valuable piece for a playoff team, like the Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Francisco 49ers.

Chicago already has two solid starting corners in Jaylon Johnson and NaShon Wright. However, bringing in Diggs to serve as quality depth could be a savvy move from general manager Ryan Poles. Bears defensive back coach Al Harris also coached Diggs in Dallas at one point, so there's a natural connection there.

San Francisco may also explore the Diggs' market. Robert Saleh's secondary has struggled this year, so adding an experienced veteran like Diggs for the playoffs would be a logical move.

Though the Bears and 49ers make sense as landing spots for Diggs, the Eagles are the perfect fit. Philadelphia could use an upgrade over Adoree' Jackson on the boundary opposite Quinyon Mitchell. Diggs is no longer a high-level starter, but he could provide some competition to Jackson ahead of the postseason.
