Is Christian McCaffrey playing today? Injury update, fantasy advice for Week 15 image

The San Francisco 49ers made an unexpected addition to the injury report on Saturday with running back Christian McCaffrey.

McCaffrey was on the injury report during the week, but with an illness. But, on Saturday, McCaffrey was put back on the injury report due to a back issue and is now questionable to play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 15.

That is obviously less than ideal news for fantasy managers with playoffs starting this week, but there is optimism surrounding McCaffrey's status.

Is Christian McCaffrey playing today?

Yes, McCaffrey is expected to play on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Despite being added to the injury report today as questionable due to a back injury, 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is expected to be “good to go” Sunday vs. The Titans, per source," Schefter reported.

We'll get final confirmation on McCaffrey's status an hour and a half before the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday.

Christian McCaffrey fantasy advice

As long as McCaffrey is active, you're definitely starting him on Sunday.

McCaffrey enters Week 15 ranked as RB1 overall this season, so he should always be in lineups, regardless of matchup. And, yes, even if it's reported McCaffrey will handle a limited workload (that hasn't been reported), you're still starting him.

If McCaffrey doesn't play, Brian Robinson Jr. Will take over lead-back duties and would be a must-start player in that scenario.

Robinson would get a monster workload with McCaffrey out and the Titans are giving up the 12th-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season.
