The San Francisco 49ers have been very fortunate Mac Jones is playing good football this season because Brock Purdy has been hampered by a turf toe injury.
Purdy suffered the injury early in the season, and after returning from a two-game absence, the 49ers quarterback reaggravated the injury and hasn't played since.
Purdy has been able to practice in recent weeks, but he hasn't turned in more than a limited session in that span. That was once again the case this week before Purdy received a questionable tag.
Here's what we know about his chances of suiting up on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
Is Brock Purdy playing this week?
Purdy will not start this week, but he could be active for the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed during the week.
Thus, Mac Jones gets another start.
Brock Purdy return timeline
We do not have a concrete answer to this question, unfortunately, and Shanahan noted that Purdy could be dealing with his injury all season long, which only makes things more cloudy.
But, when you consider Shanahan said Purdy is further along this week than he was last week and has a chance to be active, it would appear the 49ers signal-caller is close, which gives him a shot to return in Week 11.
