The San Francisco 49ers managed to knock off the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5 without the services of quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings.
While that's all well and good, it goes without saying that the Niners can't hope to keep doing that and will need all three back this week. Or, if you're a big Mac Jones stan, the Niners need two of those guys back.
Whatever the case may be, things aren't off to a good start this week for the Niners' key offensive players.
According to Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group, Pearsall, Purdy and Jennings did not practice on Wednesday, which now puts their status in doubt for Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Meanwhile, Mac Jones was limited, and Trent Williams and Christian McCaffrey weren't practicing, either, but for rest purposes.
Last we heard, Purdy was week to week, so it wouldn't be at all surprising to see him sit out another game.
"He reaggravated it," head coach Kyle Shanahan said after Thursday's game. "He's week to week. Don't know how it will heal."
The Niners were extremely short-handed at wide receiver without Jennings and Pearsall last week and will be in the same boat again this week if they don't play.
Thankfully, Kendrick Bourne stepped up in a big way, but depending on that happening again is a risky proposition.
With Wednesday in the books, we'll be on the lookout for the next update on the trio of players on the Thursday injury report.
