The San Francisco 49ers suffered a crushing loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18, as Kyle Shanahan's offense got completely shut down and the defense couldn't do enough to pick up the slack.

With the loss on Saturday, San Francisco finished the regular season with a 12-5 record, but failed to secure the NFC West and No. 1 seed. The Seahawks have won the division for the first time since 2020.

Though the 49ers won't be NFC West champions and receive the top seed, which comes with a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the postseason, San Francisco will still be a playoff team and have two wild-card scenarios to look out for on Sunday.

49ers wild-card outcomes

As of right now, the 49ers are the No. 5 seed in the NFC.

However, San Francisco could drop to No. 6 if the Los Angeles Rams defeat the Arizona Cardinals in Week 18. If the Rams lose to the Cardinals, the 49ers will be the fifth seed.

At No. 5, the 49ers would play the NFC South division winner, who will be either the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Carolina Panthers. If the New Orleans Saints beat the Atlanta Falcons in Week 18, Tampa Bay will be the No. 4 seed and play San Francisco in the wild-card round.

However, if the Falcons beat the Saints, the Panthers will be the fourth seed and square off against the 49ers in Round 1.

If San Francisco is the sixth seed, they will play the No. 3 seed in Round 1, who will be either the Philadelphia Eagles or the Chicago Bears.
