The San Francisco 49ers may have a quarterback controversy on their hands. Sitting at 4-1 on the season, three of those wins belong to backup quarterback Mac Jones. Brock Purdy has started just two games this season and has looked rather pedestrian in the process.
Purdy has thrown two touchdowns in each of the two games he's started, but he also threw two interceptions in both of those games.
This week, the 49ers gave an injury update on Brock Purdy.
Brock Purdy may be out for a couple more weeks
The 49ers reportedly aren't sure exactly when Purdy will return, but they have yet to put him on IR, which means he wouldn't be ruled out for an extended period of time.
Things are shaping up for Mac Jones to start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday, but Purdy may be returning to practice here in the next week or so.
However, Jones isn't exactly 100% healthy either. In the 49ers' Thursday night contest against the Rams, Jones appeared to have hurt his left knee.
The 49ers are taking things week-to-week with Brock Purdy at this point, but if Jones continues to pick up wins, there might be a QB controversy in San Francisco.
