The San Francisco 49ers might be winning games, but it’s tough to ignore the injuries to the defense.

San Francisco remains firmly in a championship window, and the roster reflects that.

The 49ers aren’t looking for long-term projects, as they’re built to win now. That means adding a player like Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders makes a ton of sense.

Dharya Sharma of AllSportsPeople recently laid out why the 49ers stand out among the teams that would make sense for Crosby.

“All 32 teams would relish a chance to add Crosby to their roster, but the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers are the three most logical landing spots. Crosby wants to win, and those three franchises give him a chance to do that... However, there isn't a better fit for Crosby in 2026 than San Francisco. Pairing Crosby with a healthy Joey Bosa would be a nightmare for any opposing offense, and unlike the Bears and Bills, the 49ers have the cap space this offseason to take on Crosby's monster deal,” he wrote.

The defense, when healthy, might be the best in football, and adding another elite edge would only add to that. The 49ers could also make this deal work financially with some upcoming decisions to make.

Even taking off some pressure of guys returning from injuries, Crosby would be the best addition San Francisco could make to its defense.
