The Pittsburgh Steelers have been closely monitoring edge rusher T.J. Watt's status ahead of the team's Week 17 matchup versus the Cleveland Browns.
Watt hasn't played in the last two games due to a partially collapsed lung, an injury that required surgery. The star defender collapsed during a dry needling session at the Steelers' facility on Dec. 10.
Pittsburgh has been missing Watt's presence on its defense, but will the veteran return in Week 17? We got our answer on Friday.
Will T.J. Watt play in Week 17?
No, Watt will not make his return to the lineup in Week 17 against Cleveland. He was ruled out for Sunday's game by the Steelers on Friday.
Despite practicing all week in a limited fashion, Pittsburgh is giving Watt one more week to recover. The eight-time Pro Bowler will miss his third straight contest, and before this year, Watt hadn't missed a game in two years.
Giving Watt one more week to get healthy is the correct decision from the Steelers. Pittsburgh could clinch the AFC North on Saturday if the Baltimore Ravens fall to the Green Bay Packers, so there's a chance the Steelers have nothing to play for in the final two weeks of the regular season.
