The Pittsburgh Steelers have a major question mark at quarterback going into Week 12 thanks to an injury to Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers suffered a wrist injury in the Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals that forced him to miss the entire second half of the contest.

It was later revealed that Rodgers had a small fracture in his wrist, which not only leaves his status up in the air for Week 12, but for the foreseeable future.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin provided a positive update on Rodgers on Tuesday, but the veteran signal-caller isn't out of the woods yet.

Tomlin revealed that Rodgers will indeed avoid surgery, so that's great news for his chances of coming back sooner rather than later.

Tomlin also noted that Rodgers has to be able to show he can function at a normal level before he's cleared to play. Rodgers will be playing through pain, but the Steelers head coach believes that won't be an issue.

"Functionality is a component of it," Tomlin said. "I don't need it for my comfort, but I certainly need it for functionality, and functionality is a major component of whether or not he gets an opportunity this week... It's about stabilizing it; it's about making sure that he can manage the pain -- that doesn't appear to be an issue."

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is giving Rodgers a 50/50 chance to play this week.

If Rodgers doesn't play, the Steelers will hand the ball to Mason Rudolph, and that also means rookie Will Howard will be one injury away from seeing the field for the first time in an NFL game.

The Steelers will drop their first injury report of the week on Wednesday, so we'll know more then about where Rodgers stands.
