The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't wasting any time.

They signed Adam Thielen this week after the Minnesota Vikings cut him loose. And they've got Thielen active for Week 14's crucial AFC North matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Steelers have de-activated Roman Wilson to allow Thielen into the lineup.

It could have a huge role in the playoff picture, not long after Minnesota decided to cut Thielen loose.

Why did the Vikings cut Adam Thielen?

The Vikings waived Thielen because he wasn't playing.

He was just a healthy scratch last Sunday, and Thielen was seeking a slightly bigger role for a potential playoff team down the stretch.

The Vikings also indicated in their statement that Thielen "has indicated (this) will be his final NFL season."

The Vikings acquired Thielen before the season from the Carolina Panthers for a fourth-round pick, but the veteran slot receiver never found a way to make an impact in his return to Minnesota.

Thielen spent the first nine seasons of his NFL career with Minnesota, catching 534 passes for 6,682 yards and 55 touchdowns in that first stint.

This season, Thielen had just eight catches for 69 yards through 11 games played.

Why did the Steelers sign Adam Thielen?

Pittsburgh is looking for any help at WR.

DK Metcalf has been a great top receiver, but beyond him, it's been rough with the likes of Calvin Austin, Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek.

They've also brought Marqeuz Valdes-Scantling aboard.

The Steelers are just looking for some life with QB Aaron Rodgers to try and make a playoff push.

Thielen is a proven reliable asset out of the slot, and with his experience, it shouldn't take long for him and Rodgers to get on the same page.
