This came as a late surprise.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have an exciting game in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings. They’re playing in Dublin, Ireland.

They’ll have to do it without Jaylen Warren, though.

He was a surprise inactive.

Warren’s absence means Kenneth Gainwell will likely see the most work in the Pittsburgh backfield. Rookie RB Kaleb Johnson and Trey Sermon are the other active running backs.

Why isn’t Jaylen Warren today?

Jaylen Warren isn’t playing today because he’s inactive due to a knee injury.

Warren wasn’t listed on the injury report until Friday.

He popped up as a late questionable due to a knee injury.

It’s not clear whether Warren was injured during a practice or if this is something that was nagging and got worse. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Warren “did not feel right after Saturday’s practice.”

Either way, Warren won’t be out there. The Steelers will have to make do with Gainwell and company.
