The Pittsburgh Steelers were thrown a curveball during the week after it was discovered that T.J. Watt had a lung injury.
Watt suffered the injury on Wednesday and had surgery to fix the issue Thursday. It was later revealed that Watt's injury was a partially collapsed lung and was a result of a dry needling session at the team's facility.
While we have so many questions about the details surrounding Watt's injury, we simply don't have the answers for now.
What we do know is Watt's status for Monday night against the Miami Dolphins.
Is T.J. Watt playing tonight?
No, Watt will not be suiting up for the Steelers, as he was almost immediately ruled out following surgery.
There have been conflicting reports about Watt's outlook beyond Week 15.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that the Steelers are "hopeful" that Watt can return in Week 16.
"The Steelers meanwhile will not have their star pass rushers, T.J. Watt, who is out for the game after being hospitalized last week and undergoing a procedure to fix a small hole in his lung," Pelissero said.
"The turnaround was just too quick for Watt to play this week. He needed to rest but the Steelers are hopeful that Watt potentially could miss only one game. He could be back next Sunday against the Lions," Pelissero added.
However, ESPN's Adam Schefter said that it's "gonna be challenging" for Watt to make it back by next week.
"He's not gonna play Monday night against the Dolphins. We'll see if he's able to come back in the next week. That's gonna be challenging too," Schefter said.
One thing working against Watt is the fact that he's going to have one less day to get ready for Week 16, as the Steelers are playing on Monday night before they play on Sunday next week.
